Very vague spoilers for podcast Second Star to the Left

Omg I wasn’t expecting this podcast to get so sad/distressing 😢 That was intense!

Hm, I just got an email that D&D Beyond is being bought by Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast, who will then own my data, and that I can delete my account before then. I’m not worried or anything, but I’m not using the account anymore anyway, so I might go ahead and delete just on the premise that fewer companies owning my info is better. Hmm

Moon Knight spoilers Apr 27, discussion of DID/mental health stuff

I've been enjoying Moon Knight, but I've also wondered how good its representation is of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Specifically, I wonder how people who have DID have responded to the show.

I did some googling, and I didn't find the answer, but I did find this interesting article from the Verge.

The writer interviewed some experts and concludes that Moon Knight's depiction of DID is pretty good, and it's great that it's a sympathetic depiction (the person with DID isn't a villain for once, omg) but one of the people interviewed thinks depicting DID in fiction at all is a bad idea, because it romanticizes it. It could lead people to think they have DID when they don't, which makes psychiatrists' jobs harder.

I don't know how I feel about that exactly. I'm coming at this from the perspective of a genderqueer person who didn't even know until I was an adult that it was possible to be neither male nor female. I didn't have words for my own experience. And I imagine the same can be true for certain mental health conditions.

Maybe that's not a good comparison, idk. Like, there's not really any harm in thinking you might be gender queer when you're not. You can try different pronouns or clothes and then change your mind later. I don't know if there's harm in thinking you have DID when you don't.

Anyway, it's interesting, and I'm at least glad to see depictions of mental health stuff like this improving over time!
