re: Introduction post

I realize I gave incorrect/misleading information in my intro, and at the risk of giving incorrect information again, the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) nation refers to the Québec region, though I believe the nation extends into the US as well. They're also one of many Indigenous nations in what is largely known as Canada. Cree and Mikmak, les Iroquois, et plus, but I don't yet know all their names.

Introduction post

Hello! I’m a white queer in my early thirties living on the unceded land of the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) nation, in what is largely known as Canada.

Hobbies I’ve picked up since the Before Times: writing fic, book/ficbinding, cross stitching, drawing, language studies (ASL & Dutch). Probably something else I’ve forgotten.

In meatspace, I’m in Summer Limbo Mode, waiting to start my degree in the Fall. I’m both excited and utterly terrified. I am so ready to go back to in-person learning. My brain does not get along with the online learning format.

I’ve got two dorky cats in their early senior years, two parents just shy of their senior years, and a lovely partner and metamour.

Nice to meet you!

celebration post, fic writing

@mxpince I threw it in the nonny collection hoping it would lower the stakes if I end up abandoning it, but also open the door for others to encourage me to keep writing.

celebration post, fic writing

@mxpince A friend of mine suggested I throw it in the anon collection because the feedback you get is from people who you know like your writing, and not just you.

I’ve struggled to get anywhere with this fic because I get overwhelmed with decision fatigue trying to choose between the handful of different versions of the story that I have in my head.

celebration post, fic writing

So, yesterday I posted the beginnings of a fic idea I’ve had rolling around in my head for a year in AO3’s Anonymous collection, and I just got my first comment! :blobMeltSobLove:

nerdy stuff, repetitive stress injury & adhd

@mxpince also binging Downton Abbey again. I live for Violet & Isobel! Send me fics :blobHeart:

nerdy stuff, repetitive stress injury & adhd

I may or may not have spent the past two days teaching myself Gregg shorthand… but the carpal tunnel is definitely yelling at me (I’ve also been leaning hard into the granny squares lately).

ADHD is both a super power and kryptonite :blobMeltSob:

melancholy, mention of Russia (not war-related)

I’m on the bus going through my old neighbourhood and I haven’t felt this homesick in a long while. The Russian bakery I used to buy pierogis at is now a chain dépanneur :/

I keep saying my favourite colour is yellow, but I sure have a lot of purple accessories…

White people have race
Cis men have gender
Straight people have sexuality
Abled people have access needs.

It's just that theirs are dominant and unquestioned in a way that refuses coexistence with difference, always elbowing others out while denying they do it.

emotional rant; mentions of anxiety attack, transphobia (uni-related)?

Soooo, the photo proofs from my grad ceremony earlier this month just came in... when I spent the entire ceremony in tears having an anxiety attack without the lorazepam... (a completely avoidable attack if the uni cared about how they presented their trans students... or at least the grad committee...)

I look like the kids in their school photos where their smile is hella fake and you can see the fear in their eyes.

And now I'm stuck deciding whether or not to forward the email with the photos to my folks, because I know they really want them. And I have no fucking clue what to do about it.

It's... irritating enough that the diploma I spent 5 years of my life on (4 of which not known by my legal name) is printed with the wrong name. And now I'm looking at photographic evidence of what was a godawful graduation experience.

Fic-writing complaints, insulting characters

I don't want to write a case fic, so wtf is Harry doing going undercover? :grr:

Who gave him thumbs?

surgery mention (celebratory) :flagNonBinary::flagTrans:

Happy one year post top chop to me!

Things I hope never to take for granted:

  • access to surgery in the first place and health coverage
  • a largely superb healing experience, made possible because of my fantastic roommates, parents and partners who love and helped care for me; I am eternally grateful ♡
  • a supportive, queer boss who was more than happy to make accommodations for me when I went back to work & respected my capabilities
  • the hard-won love I have for the body I'm in... I fought myself every step of the way

...if I keep going I'm just going to spend the rest of my evening ugly crying :blobMeltSobLove:

Medical complaint: tinnitus

Hey, ? It's me, Pince. Party's over, would you kindly STFU? You're obscenely loud tonight, and I wouldn't mind hearing myself think for once. And sleep. Sleep would be nice.
:blobMeltSob: :blobThx:
